Just as we all carry the capacity for love, we also carry the capacity to be hurt by love. While it’s easy to shut down or become cynical, the turning point is when we see that all of our experiences – positive or negative – can help us grow.
Love is simple, but not always easy. This is what leads us to overthink love, to act on impulse, confuse sex with intimacy (or deny its power to create intimate bonds), or repeat patterns that don’t serve us.
In the same way you might commit to a workout regiment, you can build the muscles in your heart (and other parts) to have the relationship of your dreams.

Rather than trying to swipe your way to deeper intimacy, imagine if you focused on building your skills in connection, conflict resolution, sexuality, and embodiment. And by doing it with other people committed to the same, you might just find what you’ve been looking for all along.
